Body Sail (1973)

Swimming or sailing? With this body sail, you can do both swimming and sailing at the same time: separate floats attached to the head, torso, and feet support the body, while a “propulsion device in the form of a sail and mast structure” gently propels you across the surface of the water.

The need for “a recreational device that can be easily adapted to water recreation activities,” and that “should initially be inexpensive, inexpensive to manufacture, and simple to operate and maintain,” seems to have inspired its inventor, Raymond C. Dansereau, who patented the body sail in 1973.

Enjoy the fun on the water!
