WIPO Director General Daren Tang welcomed representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to the annual WIPO–NGO Stakeholder Dialogue, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships and cooperation with NGOs and other stakeholders.

The annual dialogue was held during the Sixty-Fifth Series of Meetings of the WIPO Assemblies, bringing together representatives from more than 60 WIPO-accredited NGOs and industry stakeholder organizations.

“Our partnerships are extremely important. We want to work with you, and we are already collaborating with many of you across a wide range of areas. NGOs bring diverse expertise and perspectives to discussions on intellectual property, and you also help us engage with stakeholders whom we seek to reach,” Mr. Tang said.

Mr. Tang also shared his views on the important role NGOs play in advancing intellectual property awareness and bringing IP to grassroots communities. He provided an overview of WIPO’s work over the past year, highlighting the recent conclusion of the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge.
