In just two short years, WIPO’s Global Awards Program has evolved into the most prestigious industry award exclusively dedicated to honoring the small-business community for their exceptional achievements in:

• Driving IP assets into profitable commercial ventures

• Leveraging IP for business growth

• Delivering commercial solutions for SDG impact

Welcoming start-ups alongside SMEs

For 2024, we are happy to introduce a new category for start-ups!

We are seeking new ventures that are tapping into the potential of IP as a means to develop and expand their business, from the onset of their entrepreneurial journey.

A quick refresher on the Program

• The WIPO Global Awards is an inclusive, self-nominated contest held annually, selecting 7 winners from a pool of 25 finalists.

• Launched in 2022, it embraces SMEs and is now expanding its original focus –on globally recognized enterprises across diverse industries and geographical regions– to include start-ups. All interested parties are welcome to apply to the Awards in any of the six UN languages, plus Japanese.

• An independent, diverse, international jury panel selects the winners who are invited to Geneva, Switzerland for the prestigious Awards Ceremony.

• Winners benefit from a tailored mentoring program focusing on critical aspects like accessing financial resources, fostering strategic alliances, and reinforcing intellectual property strategies.

How to Apply

• See the contest rules to review all the criteria and application conditions.

• Once the application period opens on January 15, 2024, interested applicants can visit this link below to access the application format and submit their entry by March 31st, midnight CET. The application is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Japanese. In the meantime, add it to your calendar, so you don't miss out!
